Specifically for those who want to meet Dugong Mawar, the best time is in the morning around 06:00 to 09:00 WITA. During these hours, the sea is usually very calm, making it easier for guides to detect the dugong's presence when it surfaces to breathe.

Conservation and Environmental Protection

Mali Beach is not just a tourist object, but a conservation area strictly guarded by the local community and regional government. Awareness of the importance of protecting dugongs has led to customary regulations prohibiting destructive fishing activities in the area.

Visitors are required to adhere to a code of conduct when interacting with dugongs, such as not touching, feeding, or making movements that could startle the animal. Efforts to preserve seagrass meadows are also continuously promoted, as without healthy seagrass, the presence of dugongs at Mali Beach will be threatened. Mangrove replanting programs at several points around the beach are also carried out to prevent abrasion and maintain water quality.

It is located only about a 5-minute drive from Mali Airport, or about 20-30 minutes from the center of Kalabahi, the capital of Alor Regency. The road to the beach is smooth asphalt and can be traversed by two-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicles.

Facilities around the beach have undergone significant improvements. There is a spacious parking area, wooden gazebos for relaxing, and several local stalls serving snacks and fresh young coconuts. For tourists who wish to stay overnight, there are several homestay and lodging options in the Mali area offering a quiet rural atmosphere with direct sea views.
