About GeoKepo
What is GeoKepo?
GeoKepo is an encyclopedia and travel guide to Indonesia. We write in-depth profiles of all 514 regencies and cities, 3,000+ places to visit, 2,800+ travel guides, and the food and culture of 38 provinces — in both Indonesian and English.
The name "Kepo" comes from Indonesian slang meaning "curious" - and that is the core of GeoKepo: fostering curiosity and love for Indonesian geography. That curiosity is also where our daily map game came from, but the encyclopedia is free to read without ever playing it.

GeoKepo uses data from trusted open sources:
- Wikidata - Free knowledge base for regency/city information
- OpenStreetMap (OSM) - Boundary data and geographic coordinates
All data is used in accordance with the Open Database License (ODbL) for OSM and Creative Commons license for Wikidata.
