In its early days, the church building used local materials such as ironwood and sago palm roofing, before eventually being replaced with corrugated iron sheets flown in specifically using Dakota aircraft.

One of the unique characteristics of this site is the use of natural stone foundations manually laid by the local congregation. The building's construction was designed to withstand earthquakes, which are frequent in the central mountainous region. The interior of the church features a blend of traditional Catholic iconography with touches of local carving art. The pulpit and pews are often decorated with characteristic geometric patterns of the mountains, creating a harmony between universal theology and local wisdom.
