Gangga Island is designed for slow and meaningful exploration. The main activities are, of course, snorkeling and scuba diving. There are over 30 dive sites accessible within a short time from the beach, including easy access to popular dive sites around Bangka Island and Talise.

For those who prefer land-based activities, island trekking to the summit of Gangga's hills offers 360-degree panoramic views. From the height, visitors can see the silhouette of the Dua Saudara Mountains on the mainland of Sulawesi, as well as the cluster of small islands surrounding it, scattered like emeralds on a blue carpet. Additionally, a sunset boat trip around the island using a traditional boat (katinting) provides a poetic experience, where the sky transforms into a canvas of pink and orange hues, perfectly reflecting on the calm sea surface.

To get the optimal experience on Gangga Island, choosing the right time to visit is crucial. The best season is between April and October, when the east monsoon winds blow. During this period, the sea tends to be very calm like a mirror, and underwater visibility can reach 25 to 30 meters.

Conversely, from November to February, the region enters the rainy season. Although the air temperature remains warm, waves can become higher, and underwater visibility slightly decreases due to sediment. However, for birdwatchers, the rainy season brings its own charm as several migratory bird species are often seen resting in the tall trees in the center of the island.

As a destination that prioritizes sustainable tourism, Gangga Island has a strictly protected status maintained by both the local government and the local resort management. There are no-fishing zones around the main coral reef areas to ensure fish populations remain sustainable. Visitors are strictly prohibited from touching or stepping on corals, and the use of reef-safe sunscreen is highly recommended.

Conservation efforts also involve the local communities from the two villages on the island, namely Gangga Satu and Gangga Dua. Although it feels remote, Gangga Island is relatively easy to reach from Manado, the capital of North Sulawesi. The journey begins with a drive from Sam Ratulangi International Airport to Likupang Port or Serei Port in North Minahasa, taking approximately 60 to 90 minutes. From there, the journey continues by fast motorboat for 20 to 30 minutes across the blue waters of Likupang.

The facilities on the island have developed very well without damaging the natural aesthetics. There are international-standard resorts that embrace the concept of traditional Minahasa wooden architecture, blending seamlessly with the surrounding environment. Facilities such as professional dive centers, restaurants serving fresh local seafood, and an iconic wooden jetty are available to ensure visitor comfort.
