The dry season (June-August) is ideal if you wish to enjoy the water's maximum clarity without the risk of muddy water from upstream floods. However, for those who appreciate the grandeur of water flow, the light rainy season (October-November) will offer a view of the waterfall with a more voluminous and dramatic cascade.

Janji Waterfall is located about a 30-40 minute drive from the center of Dolok Sanggul, the capital of Humbang Hasundutan. The road access to the location is quite good and can be traversed by both two-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicles. The journey itself is a "bonus" for tourists, as the winding roads descending the hills offer a stunning panorama of Lake Toba from a high vantage point.

Facilities around the location have been adequately managed by the local government and community. There is ample parking space, public restrooms, changing rooms, and several gazebos (sopo) for resting. Additionally, there is a paved pedestrian path that facilitates access to the closest point below the waterfall without having to navigate slippery terrain.
