Beneath the water's surface, despite the strong currents, there is a local coral reef ecosystem that is home to various types of shells and stone crabs often traditionally hunted by local fishermen.

Unique Experience: Extreme Suspension Bridge

One feature that distinguishes Sungai Suci from other natural destinations in Bengkulu is the presence of a twin suspension bridge. This bridge connects the mainland to a small coral island separated by erosion.

Made from woven rope and simple wooden planks, visitors will feel the bridge sway as the sea breeze blows strongly, while below, large waves crash against the coral base with a thunderous sound. To get the maximum experience, the best time to visit Sungai Suci is during the dry season, between May and September. During this period, the sky is usually clear without clouds, so the sunset view is unobstructed.

Technically, the best time of day is from 4:00 PM to 6:30 PM Western Indonesian Time. However, visitors need to be aware of the west wind season (usually October to January), when waves can become very high and strong winds can make activities near the cliff edge or on the suspension bridge dangerous.

Conservation Status and Environmental Protection

As a natural tourist area vulnerable to erosion, the local government of Central Bengkulu continuously strives to implement protection measures. The main issue at Sungai Suci is the high rate of erosion each year. Some points of the cliffs have been fitted with wave breakers or artificial embankments to slow down land erosion.

Environmental awareness for visitors is highly emphasized, especially regarding the prohibition of littering into the sea or the river estuary area. The estuary ecosystem at Sungai Suci functions as a natural filter before freshwater enters the sea, so maintaining the cleanliness of the river is crucial for the preservation of biodiversity below the cliffs.

Sungai Suci has an advantage in terms of its very easy accessibility. Located only about 15-20 kilometers from the center of Bengkulu City, the journey can be made in 25-30 minutes by two-wheeled or four-wheeled vehicles. The road to the location is well-paved.

The facilities at this tourist location are quite adequate, including:

• Parking Area: Spacious parking lots along the cliff edges.
• Culinary Stalls: Rows of stalls serving local specialties, especially seafood and young coconut.
• Gazebos: Resting places built on the cliff edge to enjoy the view.
