Bukit Arang is part of the karst hill and lowland tropical forest ecosystem characteristic of Sulawesi. Around this area, various endemic Sulawesi bird species can still be found chirping in the morning. The dominant vegetation on the hill's summit consists of wild grasses and shrubs that change color with the seasons—fresh green during the rainy season and a dramatic golden yellow during the dry season. The existence of this ecosystem is crucial as a water catchment area for the villages below, thus the preservation of vegetation on the hill's slopes is highly valued by the local community.

1. Camping and Glamping: This is the most popular activity. The management provides a spacious camping area. For visitors seeking more comfort, there are glamour camping (glamping) facilities that combine the sensation of sleeping in nature with modern amenities.

2. Paragliding: Bukit Arang has been recognized as one of the best paragliding locations in Eastern Indonesia. Stable wind conditions and a large landing area in the valley make it an ideal spot for professional athletes and tourists wanting to try tandem flights.

3. Nature Photography: With backdrops of city views, misty valleys, and a sky full of stars (astrophotography) at night, Bukit Arang is a natural studio for photographers.

4. Trekking: The trail to the summit offers a moderate physical challenge. The uphill journey through the winding path provides a unique sense of satisfaction upon reaching the peak and being greeted by the mountain breeze.

Best Time to Visit and Seasonal Variations

To get the best experience, the most recommended time to visit is between May and September, during Gorontalo's dry season. During this period, the probability of seeing the sunrise and a clear night sky free from clouds is very high. However, for those who wish to witness the thick "sea of clouds" phenomenon, visiting at the end of the rainy season (around March or April) in the morning after a night of rain is the most opportune time.

The temperature at the summit can drop drastically at night, so visitors are advised to bring warm clothing. Conversely, during the hot daytime, the sun's rays can be very intense due to the lack of large trees in the summit area.

Conservation and Environmental Protection

As a destination categorized as a Tourist Village (Desa Wisata Lonuo), environmental conservation awareness at Bukit Arang is very high. Management is carried out collaboratively between the local government and the community-based tourism awareness group (Pokdarwis). There are strict regulations regarding waste management; every climber is required to bring their trash back down. Furthermore, facility development on the hill is done with a semi-permanent concept to minimize damage to the soil structure and the local grass ecosystem. Protection of this area also aims to maintain slope stability against landslide risks.

Accessibility and Supporting Facilities

Bukit Arang is located about 10-15 kilometers from the center of Gorontalo City, with a travel time of approximately 30 to 45 minutes by motorized vehicle. The road access to Lonuo Village is quite good, but the journey from the foot of the hill to the summit requires a well-maintained vehicle due to the steep inclines.

The Bone Bolango Regency government has built various facilities to support tourist comfort, including:

• Swimming Pool on the Hill: A unique feature rarely found in other hilly destinations is a swimming pool located at the summit area, allowing tourists to swim while enjoying the panoramic view from above.
• Gazebos and Resting Areas: Numerous spots are available for relaxation.
• Sanitation Facilities: Clean toilets and bathrooms are available in the camping area.
• Local Stalls: Local residents sell hot food and drinks, providing a direct economic impact for the people of Lonuo Village.
