The best time to visit Pusuk Buhit is during the dry season, between May and September. During this period, the hiking trails are generally dry and not slippery, and the visibility towards Lake Toba is very clear without being obstructed by thick clouds. If you wish to witness the "sea of clouds" phenomenon, visit in the early morning or after a light rain has ended.

Conversely, during the rainy season (October - January), hiking requires extra caution as the dirt trails can become very muddy and prone to landslides. However, during this season, small waterfalls around the mountain slopes appear more vigorous and fresh.

To reach Pusuk Buhit, visitors must first travel to Samosir Island. The fastest access is by air to Silangit Airport, followed by a land journey to Pangururan, the capital of Samosir Regency. From Pangururan, the journey to the foot of the mountain in Limbong Village takes about 30-45 minutes by two-wheeled or four-wheeled vehicle.

Facilities around the foot of the mountain are now developing. Several homestays managed by locals are available, along with eateries serving local cuisine and a tourist information center. Along the hiking trails, there are several simple shelters for resting. Although the facilities are not as luxurious as other modern tourist destinations, this simplicity helps preserve the authenticity and tranquility of the Pusuk Buhit area.
