This architectural transformation began with the local government's vision to make Langara a new economic growth center in Southeast Sulawesi.

The construction process faced significant geographical challenges. Given its location directly exposed to the strong currents of the Wawonii Strait, the port's substructure utilized concrete piling techniques, driven tens of meters deep to penetrate the seabed sediment layers down to the bedrock. The superstructure was then built with a lightweight steel frame system, allowing for wide spans without numerous columns, providing a spacious interior for the passenger terminal.

Currently, Langara Port serves as the main artery connecting Wawonii Island to Kendari City. The visitor experience begins as the ship approaches the dock; the iconic silhouette of the building provides a strong visual welcome. Inside the terminal, the space layout is intuitively arranged to separate incoming and outgoing passenger flows, a standard of space management typically found only in international airports.

The waiting area is designed with large glass openings (curtain walls) facing the sea, allowing passengers to enjoy sunset views while waiting for ferry or speedboat departures. This transforms the usually boring waiting experience into an enjoyable tourist experience.

Although the specific architect's name is often behind the names of large planning consultants, this work demonstrates the skillful hand of a designer who understands the typology of coastal buildings.
