Location and Accessibility to Nature's Gateway
Taman Wisata Air Terjun Lano is located in Lano Village, Jaro District, Tabalong Regency. Its location is very strategic as it is situated right on the edge of the Trans-Kalimantan highway connecting South Kalimantan with East Kalimantan. It is approximately 70 to 80 kilometers from Tanjung city center, the capital of Tabalong.
Access to the location is considered very good with smooth asphalt roads. Upon arrival at the entrance gate, visitors will be greeted by a spacious and shaded parking area. However, the real adventure begins after passing the ticket counter. To reach the main waterfall point, visitors must walk (trekking) for approximately 600 meters to 1 kilometer along a well-maintained path through the forest.

Natural Characteristics and Geographical Uniqueness
Lano Waterfall is not just a single cascade. This destination is part of a protected forest area that acts as a buffer for the Meratus Mountains ecosystem. The waterfall has a height of about 17 to 20 meters with a stable water flow throughout the year.
One of the unique natural features is the black rock formation surrounding the plunge pool. These rocks are naturally arranged, creating vertical cliff walls covered with moss and epiphytic plants. The water originates from very clear and cold mountain springs, providing an instant refreshing sensation for anyone who splashes their face or swims in the main pool.

Biodiversity and Tropical Rainforest Ecosystem
Along the journey to the waterfall, visitors' eyes will be treated to the rich biodiversity typical of Kalimantan. The forests around Lano are home to various types of meranti and ulin trees, as well as various giant ferns. This ecosystem is still very natural, evidenced by the loud chirping of forest birds and the buzzing of cicadas that accompany the trekking journey.
If lucky, visitors may catch a glimpse of local fauna such as long-tailed macaques or various species of butterflies with exotic color patterns. This biodiversity makes Lano Waterfall not only a recreational spot but also a natural laboratory for those interested in botany and tropical rainforest conservation.

Facilities and Visitor Comfort
The management of Taman Wisata Air Terjun Lano, involving the local community and regional government, has provided adequate facilities. There are clean restrooms and changing rooms near the waterfall area, so visitors do not need to return to the front gate just to change clothes. Additionally, there are small stalls selling snacks and warm drinks, which are very enjoyable after getting cold from playing in the water.

Best Time to Visit
The best time to visit Lano Waterfall is at the end of the rainy season or the beginning of the dry season (around April to June). During this period, the waterfall's flow is very majestic and strong, yet the water remains clear. If visiting at the peak of the rainy season, the water flow might be very high and brownish due to carrying sediment from upstream, while at the peak of the dry season, the water flow might decrease but its clarity reaches its maximum level.
It is highly recommended to arrive at the location in the morning around 08:00 to 10:00 WITA. Besides the air still being very fresh, sunlight filtering through the forest canopy creates a beautiful tyndall effect or god rays, which are wonderful to enjoy and photograph.

Conservation and Environmental Protection Efforts
As part of a protected area, the preservation of Lano Waterfall is highly maintained. Visitors are required to adhere to basic rules: do not litter, do not vandalize rocks or trees, and do not damage existing vegetation. Waste management here is quite strict, with trash bins provided at several strategic points along the trekking path.
The existence of this tourism also serves as a defense against the threat of illegal land clearing around Meratus. By making the forest a tourist destination, the economic value of the forest shifts from timber exploitation to sustainable environmental services, providing economic benefits to the residents of Lano Village without damaging nature.

Conclusion
Taman Wisata Air Terjun Lano is a perfect representation of Tabalong's natural beauty. It offers an escape from the fatigue of urban routines into the embrace of pure nature. With easy access yet maintaining its wild side, Lano becomes a must-visit destination for anyone passing through South Kalimantan. Maintaining cleanliness and sustainability during visits is key to ensuring this natural wonder can continue to be enjoyed by future generations.
