Reaching Kersik Luway requires a bit of an adventurous spirit. From Samarinda, the capital of East Kalimantan, you can take a land journey of approximately 8-10 hours to Melak, the capital of West Kutai. A faster alternative is by a pioneer flight from Balikpapan to Melalan Airport in West Kutai.

From Melak, Kersik Luway Nature Reserve can be reached within about a 30-45 minute drive. Facilities at the site include a guard post, an information center, and an interpretation trail in the form of a wooden bridge. However, as this is a nature reserve area, do not expect hotels or restaurants within the area. Accommodation and other supporting facilities are fully available in the center of Melak town.
